His Holiness the Dalai Lama - a classic interview
Co founder of OneWorld Anuradha Vittachi interviews his Holiness the Dalai Lama.

With the Dalai Lama arriving in London for talks with Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and with so much media interest in the Tibet protests, it seems a good time to feature on OWTV a classic interview with the Dalai Lama by Anuradha in the mid 90s. He is emphatic about the centrality of his non-violent approach, and aware of the slow pace of progress in what he calls 'the freedom struggle'. But what would he do if the people of Tibet chose a different path to independence? Comments
wow what a brilliant experience this must have been 
It was inspiring. To have been through so much, and yet to remain utterly committed to non-violence as 'compassion in action' was so moving.
I was also very lucky in that he gave me another period of time to talk with him later, on a more personal basis. His Holiness had been the co-recipient of a major Asian peace prize - the Magsaysay Award - about 40 years ago. I think it may have been 1959. The other recipient was my father.
By coincidence, the day His Holiness gave me this time was the first anniversary of my father's death, so the memory of my father was especially close to me that day. He was so wise, insightful and heartfelt when he spoke to my daughter and myself that day, I will never forget the experience.
I also met him on another occasion, and wrote about it in 'Earth Conference One', my first 'real' book. What always strikes me is this: what he says seems so simple - and yet is so very, very hard to do each day.
