Woman of Umoja Village, Kenya

From 1970 to 2003, 1600 samburu women were raped by British soldiers in Northern Kenya. Having dishonoured the community, they have been kicked out by their husbands. They gathered and created Umoja, a village where men are forbidden. This particularity raised many problems to the founder, Rebecca Lolosoli.
