There is a wide range of rich media tools you can use within OneClimate and deploy on the pages you write. These include:

These tools will be progressively rolled out in the coming weeks. Here's how they work.

An interactive map like this can be included anywhere on one of your pages.

Readers will be able to zoom in and move around any part of the world. And by clicking on the pins that you or they put in they can see what's happening locally and link to other pages, either inside OneClimate or on the net.

Calendars can be used on your pages to show upcoming events.

And the power of this tool is that you can open it to members of your group to add events for everyone to see. And throughout OneClimate we can aggregate these calendars so that people coming to the site can search for events relevant to them on any theme or from any organisation or part of the world.

A carbon calculator is a starting point for many people to devise their personal strategies for living sustainably. Our partner organisation Global Cool is developing one that you will be able to put on your pages.

A powerful social tool you can add to your pages is pledging. This is a way for your group or readers to make a pledge, saying in effect "I'll do it if others do." An example could be: "I pledge to change all of my light bulbs to low energy bulbs in the next 2 months, if ten other people will do the same." We've linked up with Global Cool and PledgeBank to make this easy for you to make available on your pages.

We can make your OneClimate pages mobile-aware, so that texts or video messages from your group members can be displayed directly on your pages.

Next there are tools to add audio or video clips to the pages. You can use any online storage system for your clips, like Odeo or YouTube. Then you can give people a player on your page like this for audio:

If you run that video clip it will give you a first impression of what's being built on OneClimate island - our virtual world of low-carbon living. We will be developing tools for messages from groups and individuals to be displayed on the island, and space to be made available for virtual exhibitions, simulations and public meetings.

You may want to link directly to carbon offset schemes that people can use where they are unable to reduce their emissions. Here's one of the tools being offered by Climate Care.

Finally we'd like to introduce you to BraveNewTheatres. This is great service for activists to use any video they have available (in our case on climate change) and publicise viewings that your group arranges.
